Oushak rugs of the late 19th century were often designed with a very playful and primitive sensibility that makes them modern and timeless. For its age, this rug is in very good condition with very silky wool that is indicative of early Oushaks. The green background is very unusual and indicates it may have been commissioned for an English home with a William Morris sensibility.
