Beautiful creamy white antique Moroccan rug with classical brown cross designs forming diamonds. Beautiful minimalist, modern style. This is one of the softest and purest white Moroccan rugs we have. It has beautiful sheen from the natural wool's lanolin, which creates a silky effect. Long braided tassels hang from one end. Handmade by the Beni Ourain tribe from the most northeastern part of the Middle Atlas of Morocco around the 1980-90s, late 20th century. Featuring a bright red talisman emblem to ward off evil spirits and serve as a protective symbol. This is a very personal tradition, where the women weaving the rugs would incorporate some of their clothing or even hair to bring good fortune to the user of the rug, often her husband or family member. This is not a commercially produced Moroccan rug, it was made by the tribes for their own use.
